President Obama Set the Tone More than the Agenda

 Article 2, Section 3 of the Constitution states, “He (the President) shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; …”  President Obama gave the second State of the Union Address of his administration this past Tuesday.

On January 18, 2011, America will celebrate the legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will hear those powerful words "I Have A Dream” along with excerpts from other famous speeches. What has troubled me over the years is how Dr. King, the visionary and revolutionary’s action, and ultimate sacrifice have been hijacked and relegated to being those of just a “dreamer”. 

 


The Hate that Hate Filled Dialogue Produces

 While conducting a town hall meeting in Tucson, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was shot in the head Saturday.  She struggles for her life in an Arizona hospital.  Giffords was among 13 people wounded in the melee that killed six, including Arizona's chief federal judge, a 9-year-old girl and an aide for the Democratic lawmaker.
