Donna Brazile to Meet with Cornel West

Donna Brazile, the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, said Thursday that she plans to meet with Cornel West, the outspoken Princeton University professor who has openly criticized President Barack Obama’s leadership and questioned his commitment to uplifting the African-American community.  

“I’ll be talking to Cornel West at Princeton University,” Brazile said, “and we’re going to address some of these issues.”

There is an old Ghanaian proverb that says, “Until the lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.”
 
 
Journalism is the first draft of history. In the wake of Democrats’ shellacking in the midterm elections, many journalists and pundits blamed low black turnout for their losses. They compared 2010 turnout with 2008, but that is like comparing apples and oranges. Turnout is always higher in a presidential election year.
 
 

Lies, Fear and Obama

In the build up to the mid-term elections, Republicans accused President Obama of being out of touch with the American people. John B Boehner, the presumptive Speaker of the House, told Diane Sawyer during an interview that, “the American people have clearly repudiated the policies they’ve (Democratic leaders) put forward in the last two years”.
