Rev. Jesse Jackson Is Obviously Jealous

By now, most of you have heard the clip. Unaware that his microphone was on during a break for a Fox News program last Sunday, Rev. Jesse Jackson whispered to another guest, " See Barack, he's been talking down to Black people about this faith based.... I want to cut off his nuts."

His nuts, reverend! Really? That is not what Jesus would do.

During a break from taping "Fox & Friends" on Sunday, Andre Mitchell asked Jackson about speeches on morality Obama has given at black churches. Jackson said at a news conference Wednesday that he responded that Obama's speeches can come off as speaking down to black people and that there were other important issues to be addressed, such as unemployment and education.

I think that Jackson is jealous. He's mad that Obama has captured the imaginations of Black and White Americans in a way that he never could. He jealous because Obama has a real shot at becoming the first African American president of the United States. Jackson is jealous because Obama has the universe's attention, and he has no choice but to revel in Obama's greatness.

In urban enclaves, we call it "crabs in a barrel syndrome." The minute one crab crawls to the top of the barrel the other crabs pull him down. Jesse should be ashamed.

Jackson once walked among kings, literally. A protégé of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jackson has served the African American community for nearly 50 years, keeping hope alive. While I recognized Jackson’s contributions to the social and political edification of Black people, Jackson's time in the spotlight is over. Step aside Jesse and stop hating.

Church folks (sigh).  Can't live with them. Can't live without them.

The Attention Grabber

Michele, I enjoyed the article and believe that on some level Jessie is jealous and feels as though his time is up. Perhaps he's not ready to pass on the torch, take his bow and exit left off stage. Perhaps, Jessie truly believes Barack is "talkin down to black people."

However, I see Barack encouraging black people and lifting them up. Especially the speech he gave on Father's day regarding black men taking responsibility for their family and children. Perhaps Jessie believes Barack's speech could have been broader and included all people as oppose to Black people.

I can kinda understand Jessie's first comment, but wanting to castrate the Senator was a bit much and too strong of rhoteric for a Revern to use. Jessie also appears to be two faced because he claims to support Barack and at the same time when he thinks no one is listening, he wants to castrate him. With friends like Jessie, who need enemies.

Now, Jessie has made his crude remarks and is on every talk show that will listen with a half apology. He's mostly talking about black folks issues, i.e., education, healthcare, oil prices, etc. Just today, CNN Don Lemon did a interview on Jessie, well it was more like his bio. Showing how he became a leader and pictures with MLK and his 65th birthday celebration. All of sudden, it's all about Jessie and Barack is second banana.

Michele, you are right, crabs in the barrell sydrome is alive and kicking. If only Jessie knew how to pass the torch and enjoy the next generation, we would be able to get out of the bucket and embrace change. If Barack does not make it, I believe some of the fault will be because of our own people. Stop blaming the Clinton's, but we will have to look in the mirror (Rev Wright, Rev Jackson, Father Pflieger) Oh he's White, just acting black. LOL
