Obama Makes History! Thank You Jesus.

The shit (sorry Jesus) has officially hit the fan.

America, the so-called land of the "free," home of the brave, is one step closer to electing its first Black (well, almost Black) president.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama addresses supporters ...

After tonight's win in Montana, the whoops and hollers of Black Obama supporters will only get louder (as they typically do when Negroes get excited), while  the pitch forks of White-rural voters get sharper, perhaps.

Amid arguably the most explosive presidential primary season in the history of this country, Barack Obama will emerge as the Democratic nominee and by my best estimation win the presidency of the United States.

Win or lose, the fact that a Black man has this type of momentum and multi-racial support proves that this country has come a long way, and gauging by the incendiary comments of Catholic priest Rev. Michael Pfleger, we still have a long way to go.

But, I digress.

For the past few months, I've tried to envision this country under the leadership of a Black man or any person of color, for that matter. I've wondered how one's God-given hue, one's upbringing, one's societal experiences could alter the trajectory of an entire nation.

Obama, more than likely, has been pulled over for D.W.B (driving while Black). At some point in his life, he’s probably been perceived as a drug dealer, high school dropout, ex-convict, or someone of inferior intelligence. He’s been poor, a beneficiary of welfare and the victim of a fatherless home. How will these experiences affect his decision making?

I don't know. But I hope his upbringing makes him a stronger advocate for low-income Americans struggling to make ends meet. I hope that his experiences with prejudice compel him to fight harder to contain the forces that allow for Jena justice, alarming sentencing disparities and the brutal policing that cause unnecessary fatalities (R.I.P Sean Bell). I hope that Obama's first order of business is revamping our educational systems (all of them) so that children from single-parent homes can experience the same level of accomplishment that he has.

As a Black American, I don't expect Barack Obama to do the extreme, should he become president. He is not going to apologize for slavery. I doubt very seriously that he'll pass reparations legislation. He probably won't change the national anthem to "Juicy" by the Notorious B.I.G, and I doubt that Black incarceration rates will drop dramatically (in case you thought that he was going to pardon every Black criminal).

I simply expect Barack Obama to do his best to restore economic stability by reducing the nation's debt, creating jobs, providing universal health care and ending a costly war.

I can't wait to see how his story unfolds. Indeed, we are witnessing history. I'm just happy to be apart of it!

It's NOT Jesus you should be thanking...

You should be thanking the other guy. You know. The guy downstairs. He's the one that wants a pro-death candidate that goes against all life issues & has been the darling of the eugenicist Planned Parenthood agenda. Visit www.BlackGenocide.org for more info.

As you said in your last sentence...I am also happy to be APART from contributing to all of the pro-death Obama mess.
