During his annual trip to Africa, President Bill Clinton told ABC News that he has regrets over comments he made during the Democratic primary, but is not angry with Sen. Barack Obama.
"Everybody's got a right to run for president," Clinton told ABC News correspondent during his trip to Monrovia. "And I would be the last person to ever begrudge their ambition. He's a superbly gifted candidate and had a great operation. They thought this thing through."
Clinton said his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, did the right thing in staying in the primaries as long as she did. In fact, he said, "And I'm ver proud she didn't quit ... The party is much better for it ... and Sen. Obama is going to go into the general election with a much more activated Democratic Party."
Snow pressed Clinton on how friends and critics have blamed him on his wife's loss. Clinton said he refused to discuss it because it misses the point of who is going to win the general election. He said the media avoids reporting how he supported Obama many times during the primary, including several nights before where he refuted a black man who said Obama couldn't get the nomination or win the general election because he was black. Clinton said he
"I am not a racist and I never made a racist comment and didn't attack him personally," Clinton told ABC. "The South Carolina event was twisted for deliberate effect for people who weren't for Hillary. .... These people don't have an office in Harlem. They haven't live the life I lived. How could I have a conversation with two African American congressman who agree with me and I'm a racist?"

[Subject] StateDemocracy.org Equips You for the 2008 Election
Dear Citizen:
Are you ready yet for the November 4th Elections? How about your friends, family, and neighbors?
More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?
The answers to these questions -- and all your voting needs -- can be found at www.StateDemocracy.org -- the FREE 1-Stop citizen empowerment portal that Delivers Democracy to your Desktop! StateDemocracy is among the Internet’s first (since 2001) and most encompassing civic empowerment tools.
In order to boost voter participation this year, StateDemocracy.org is offering FREE widgets for all 50 states. You can simply download and embed these widgets into your own website so your visitors can register to vote, get an absentee ballot or find their local polling place.
Lobby Congress Via StateDemocracy
StateDemocracy.org also equips you to maintain an active dialog with your state and federal lawmakers once they are elected. And RIGHT NOW is an especially opportune time to contact your U.S. Senators and House Member, as Congress takes up major legislation on such issues as offshore oil drilling, another economic stimulus package and all federal appropriations bills over the next few weeks.
As you lobby your elected officials, remember that lawmakers view your constituent input as reflective of scores of other citizens who felt similarly, but didn’t have (or take) the time to share their opinions.

Bill is Not a Racist
I agree with Bill that Barack is a superb politician and defeated the Clintons because he thought this thing through. He planned, plotted and learned more about his opponent than his opponent learned about him. He won fair and square. However, Barack surrogates played the race card first and he admits it to Tim Russert http://tinyurl.com/6gcstl. Barack is definitely a politician and the Clintons under estimated him.
James Clyburn and others blew Bill and Hillary comments out of context in order for Barack to gain the advantage. In the interim, the Clintons look like Racist which is absurd. I feel badly for Bill because in his heart, he really love black people and we threw him away as soon as we found some one who we think may be better.
I suggest we embrace them both and forgive the Clintons because we need them to get Barack in the white house.
